Terms of Service

Our pedal-assist electric bicycles make it easy to explore Sanibel’s 26 miles of Shared Use Paths, to bike the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, to bike Captiva, and to discover all the Islands have to offer. On a sanctuary island like Sanibel, however, and a resort destination like Captiva, special considerations apply. All our eBike rentals are subject to a signed Waiver & Rental Agreement, which incorporate the following Terms of Service.

Safety First!

We offer helmets free of charge to all riders, and encourage all riders to wear a helmet.

Keep to the right side of the bike path, always ride in single file. Signal intention to turn.

Pedestrians and slower cyclists have the right of way, so warn when passing by ringing your bell or calling out “passing on your left”.

Don’t follow too closely. If you need to stop, pull completely off the bike path.

Use caution when crossing streets, and only cross at crosswalks. Walk your bike through crosswalks.

Rules of the Road

Obey all traffic laws and signage, including posted speed limits on the bike path.

eBikes may not be driven on beaches.

When riding at night, riders must use the equipped headlight and taillight.

Riders may wear no more than one earbud or other listening device; one ear should always be free to hear oncoming traffic.

Do not carry more than one person per bike.

Do not possess an open alcoholic beverage.

Rider Requirements

All riders must be at least 18 years old. Violation of this requirement will result in immediate repossession of our eBike.

All riders must be between 4’11” and 6’5″ in height, and not more than 275 lbs in weight.

Only the Renter and authorized Additional Riders listed on the Waiver/Rental Agreement may ride the eBike.

All riders must provide a valid U.S. driver’s license.

All riders must provide current cell phone numbers.

Care & Storage

Renter is responsible for damage to rented eBikes and any lost or damaged equipment. eBikes must be returned in same condition as at commencement of rental period.

Please store eBikes inside the garage or under a covered shelter at your place of residence. While out and about, please park at a regular bicycle rack. Please always use the bike lock we provide with every rental.

If you are caught in the rain please seek dry shelter immediately for your safety and for the safety of the electronics of the eBike. Never ride through puddles or standing water.

Our eBikes may not be loaded into a vehicle or transported in any manner without the authorization of Island Breeze eBikes.

Excessive sand, mud, or debris observed upon final inspection may result in an additional fee.

If you have an overnight rental, please recharge the battery on your last evening before pickup.

Insurance

Renter is responsible for all liability and damages that may result while operating our eBikes. Renter’s and/or authorized Additional Riders’ insurance is primary for liability and personal injury protection coverage.

When Renter signs the Waiver/Rental Agreement and renders payment, their use of the eBike and that of any authorized Additional Riders is included on our fleet rental insurance as secondary insurance coverage.

No riders other than the Renter and authorized Additional Riders listed on the Waiver/Rental Agreement are covered by our fleet rental insurance.

Failure to return eBike upon expiration of the rental period and failure to pay all amounts due (including costs for damage to the property or equipment) are evidence of abandonment or refusal to redeliver the property, punishable in accordance with Florida Statutes SS812.155.

Cancellation Policy

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the time of your rental.

Reservations cancelled less than 24 hours before the time of your rental will not be refunded.

There are no refunds or credits available due to the weather or for ending the rental period earlier than scheduled.

We make every effort to adhere to the scheduled delivery/pickup time. If your arrival time changes, we will make every effort to accommodate the change in circumstances.

Privacy Policy

Island Breeze eBikes respects your privacy. By opting into our SMS messaging service, you agree to the following terms regarding how we handle your data:

Data Collection: We will collect your name, email address, mailing address, and mobile phone number when you sign up for SMS updates. The information will be collected via the website contact form, email, rental agreement, or third-party reservation systems.

Data Usage: We use your data solely for answers to your inquiries, information about our eBikes, and details of your reservation.

Data Security: We protect your data with secure storage measures to prevent unauthorized access.

Data Retention: We retain your information as long as you are subscribed to our SMS service. You may request deletion at any time.

MESSAGE AND DATA RATES MAY APPLY. Your mobile carrier may charge fees for sending or receiving text messages, especially if you do not have an unlimited texting or data plan.

Messages are recurring, and message frequency varies.

Opt-Out: You can opt out of the SMS list at any time by texting, emailing, or replying STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE to info@islandbreeze-ebikes.com or (239) 500-2453. After unsubscribing, you will receive a final SMS to confirm you have unsubscribed and we will remove your number from our list within 24 hours.

You can send HELP for additional assistance, and you will receive a text including our Phone number, email, and website. We are here to help you.

Non-Sharing Clause: We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Island Breeze eBikes will not sell, rent, or share the collected mobile numbers.
